Job Requirements:

The successful candidate:

 

  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
  • Will have a valid Emergency First Aid / CPR certification that is 565 approved (Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross Society, St. John’s Ambulance or the Canadian Ski Patrol) Candidate should have strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Will have Previous coaching or related skating and/or hockey experience
  • Candidate must be able to work weekdays from 9:30am-3:00pm
  • Employment offer is conditional upon receipt of a Criminal Record Search, Vulnerable Sector Screening that is acceptable to the City of Mississauga.
  • HIGH FIVE ® Principles of Healthy Child Development.

 

Job Responsibililties: 

 

Under the direction of the Head Pro the successful candidate will be responsible to assist in instruction and delivery of a TML FUNdamentals programming as developed by the Recreation and Parks Division to meet the needs of all participants.

 

  • Support the objectives and philosophies of the TML FUNdamentals program as established by the Recreation Division through quality instruction and excellent public relations.
  • Incorporate and model the HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development in program delivery where appropriate.
  • Prepare daily lesson plans and review lesson plans with the Head Pro when necessary.
  • Teach basic to advanced skating skills to program participants through group lessons.
  • Instruct skating for school class visits.
  • Assist the Head Pro with inspections of participants' skating equipment for proper fit and condition on the first day of each session.
  • Adhere to all program policies and standards with regard to program content and delivery, public relations, attendance, and uniform.
  • Ensure the continuing safety of all participants while on the ice.
  • Effectively provide quality customer service and act as a knowledgeable resource to participants, parents and volunteers.
  • Prepare equipment and start program according to schedule and Return equipment to racks and disinfect prior to the next program
  • Distribute skates and helmets to school participants
  • Ensure the continuing safety of all participants while on the ice
  • Responsible for assisting with the delivery or warm-ups and cool-down segments in each class
  • Perform administrative program functions pertaining to the operation of the program
  • Effectively and in a timely manner communicate any issues/ information that could impact the quality and safe delivery of the program to the Head Pro.
  • Attend and participate in trainings and staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Perform emergency procedures as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Hours of Work: Up to 28 hours

Salary: $21.04-$23.03
