Manager, Library Innovation and Technology

  • Reporting to the Manager, Digital Library Services and Collection is responsible for providing system-wide leadership in managing the library's digital services, furthering innovative programs and services, and planning, operating,assessing and enhancing the library's technology infrastructure.
  • Defines technology features and operations for Digital Hub and technology features in New Central Library Project.
  • Responsible for all operations, resources, and staff within the business unit, including budget development and management of technology budgets.
  • Develops and operationalizes an innovation strategy for the library; develops related technology plans and priorities to ensure that Mississauga provides a leading edge technology for staff and customers.
  • Provides leadership and support for digital approaches and technology integration to traditional library services
  • Works in conjunction with City of Mississauga Information Technology staff, public services managers, the manager, collections and material handling and project leader, special projects to meet the innovation and technology needs of the library
  • Supports staff in technical competency develop in order to support library service delivery
  • Ensures effective management of the library's integrated library system and  associated third party products including planning, implementation, operation, maintenance, assessment,enhancement and managing vendor relationships
  • Ensures effective management of library business related systems (eg. booking software, print release system) including planning, implementation, operation, maintenance, assessment, and managing vendor relationships
  • Ensures effective management of electronic services including researching, evaluating, acquiring, implementing, supporting and managing vendor relationships
  • Contributes to the business unit and system's continued success through participation in special projects and system initiatives.
  • Monitors and ensures a safe, secure and clean work environment.



  • ​Recognized library science or information studies degree with 3-5 years professional library experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of integrated library systems and other technology infrastructure
  • Excellent working knowledge of Symphony, Microsoft Office, SAP
  • Core competencies of strategic agility, business acumen, communication and relationship building, developing culture and people, driving innovative change, and being accountable for results
  • Experience in systems and business analysis is an asset.



Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

Salary: $83,471 to $111,297

Closing Date: October 25, 2017
