Community Centre Operations Staff (Part Time)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under the direction of the Supervisor of Operations, or Designate, is responsible for performing facility maintenance and cleaning.  Responsibilities may be seasonally dictated and include working directly with the public.
  • Ensure a clean environment at all times by performing cleaning duties such as mopping, sweeping, trash collection etc.
  • Assist with monitoring and maintaining pool circulation, filtration and heating systems.
  • Ensure a safe environment at all times by using safe work processes, clearing snow and spreading salt, supervising the public, performing safety checks and reporting any safety concerns.
  • Perform set ups and tear downs of program equipment, tables and chairs, etc.
  • Maintain records as required.
  • Assist with ice maintenance by removing nets, helping facility operations staff etc.
  • Perform a public role by answering inquiries from the public correctly and have a general knowledge of facility bookings procedures and program information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Please Note: Positions are filled based on operational needs at the various community Centres.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Minimum 16 years of age with the ability to do physical work in a variety of climatic conditions. 
  • Excellent customer service and public relations skills required. 
  • Experience with the operation of a Zamboni/Olympia ice resurfacer an asset. 
  • Experience working in a pool and arena would be an asset. 
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR certificates are required.
  • Other training certificates may be required i.e. AED, WHMIS. 
  • Must be able to work as a team player and also work with little supervision. 
  • Shift work including days and afternoons maybe required.
  • Employment offer is conditional upon receipt of a Criminal Records Search, Vulnerable Sector Screening that is acceptable to the City of Mississauga.

Please Note:  Weekend and rotating shift work is required.  Successful applicants must be prepared to be moved, with appropriate notice, to a different facility as operational needs require.  The ability to travel between locations may be required. 

 

Hours of Work: Part-time hours

Hourly Rate: $11.64 - $11.75
