PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees resident inquiries and collaborates with the Community Liaison to identify emerging community issues to be addressed by the Office of the Mayor.
  • Implements solution-oriented support for residents
  • Develop stakeholder communications on relevant developments in the City of Mississauga and the Office of the Mayor
  • Proactively identify community investment and public policy opportunities and priorities
  • Work with broader team including the Senior Communications Advisor and Community Liaison to develop and implement community relations and outreach strategies
  • Develop and help to implement consultation strategies and community engagement programs
  • Review all Council and committee agendas with the Chief of Staff and Mayor, highlighting potential issues and important details.
  • Work closely with key community stakeholders
  • Manage the Mayor's schedule including all incoming event and meeting requests
  • Coordinate the calendars of the Mayor and the Chief of Staff
  • Oversee the booking of all travel and accommodations for Mayor
  • Work with the Mayor and Chief of Staff to coordinate resident and stakeholder meetings
  • Coordinate meetings, forums, roundtable discussions and special events with key stakeholders to drive policy-oriented solutions to issues
  • Ensure briefing materials are prepared for the Mayor's events and meetings
  • Oversees the maintenance of the CivicTrack stakeholder database
  • Advise the Chief of Staff and the Mayor on current and emerging public policy relevant to residents and stakeholders within the City of Mississauga
  • Prepare correspondence from the Mayor when necessary
  • Assists the Chief of Staff in the planning and execution of office events and initiatives.
  • Attend events with the mayor when needed
  • Perform other related duties

Note:

  1. Ability to attend off site locations may be required
  2. Successful candidate must provide, at their own expense, a Criminal Record Search
  3. Fixed Term Contract – Successful candidates will be considered full time employees for the duration of the Elected Official's term of Office

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary degree, preferably with a focus on political science or public administration
  • 5-7 years of related government experience
  • Strong understanding of the Mississauga  community and its business, union, cultural, environment, indigenous, and other stakeholders
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including presentation experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to work in a team in environment with strong interpersonal skills and leadership skills

 

Hours of Work: 35 Hours per week

Salary: $76,737 - $102,317

Closing Date: Sunday, January 21, 2018

Number of Positions: 1 Permanent Full Time
