    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Under the direction of a Senior Project Manager, Facilities Development and Accessibility Section, the successful candidate will:

    • Plan, research, develop and coordinate the implementation of construction and renovation projects at various City facilities.
    • Develop solutions to resolve building system problems, conduct facility condition audits, validate client work requests and provide construction estimates.
    • Provide project management and coordination services for the delivery of Capital and Lifecycle prokects.
    • Prepare specifications and solicit and evaluate quotations from contractors and provide effective liaison between clients, contractors and consultants.
    • Experience in preparing and administering consultant and construction agreements is considered an asset
    • The Project Coordinator will monitor contractor performance and resolve deficiencies or disputes, develop project design and implementation schedules, monitor and control project commitments and expenditures, maintain comprehensive project file documentation.
    • Will actively contribute to enhancing project performance as a member of the Integrated Project Delivery Team and will assist Project Management staff with major construction projects as required.  Perform other related duties as required.

     

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

    • Post secondary Technician/Technologist diploma in Architectural, Structural, Mechanical or Electrical, Technology or a relevant discipline, with a minimum of 5 years experience in design and project management of construction projects
    • Administering contracts and managing contractors and consultants or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
    • LEED and PMP certification are an asset. 
    • General knowledge of building theories and applications, construction practices, terminology, building and fire codes.
    • Experience in estimating, preparation of specifications and tender documents.
    • A solid understanding of project management principles is required. 
    • Must be able to read and interpret drawings and have strong problem solving and project management skills and be able to multi-task and manage several projects at the same time.
    • The successful candidate will have effective interpersonal communication skills and be committed to working in a team-based environment with a focus on continuous improvement and quality customer service.

     

    Note: This is a contract position up to 2 years

    Hours of Work: 35 hour per week

    Hourly Rate: $37.04 - $49.39
