Job Description

Reporting to the Supervisor, Employee Communications & Events, and as part of the Corporate and Department Communications team, the successful candidate will provide support and assistance in the implementation of projects, events and communication programs and strategies.




  • Provide support and logistics coordination for official and internal events some of which include: Civic Recognition evening, Canada Day, Remembrance Day, City Manager’s annual town hall and United Way employee activities
  • Assist with maintaining and updating content on internal communications platforms (intranet, SharePoint, key date calendars) as well as the corporate website
  • Support with the implementation of employee and executive communication strategies
  • Assist with research, tracking and reporting for projects and communications activities
  • Other duties as assigned




  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in communications, public relations, journalism or related field, and up to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of appropriate education and experience.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask and work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong computer skills working with Microsoft Office, databases, spreadsheets (i.e. Excel) and presentation software
  • Familiarity with social media platforms is an asset
  • Experience in a corporate and/or municipal sector is preferred.
  • A working knowledge and/or strong understanding of the municipal government process including issues and legislation is an asset.

Note:  This is a contract position up to January 31, 2019

Hours of Work: 35 hour per week

Salary: $25.15 - $33.53 / hour
