  • Job Description

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Under the general supervision of the Manager, Records, you will be responsible for providing consultation services, education and functional guidance in support of the Records Management Program to City staff. 

    • Conduct research, analysis, guidance and build information management solutions and recommendations and assist in implementing the approved solution. 
    • Monitor, develop and support information management systems.
    • As a member of the Records Administration Team, provide input into the design, development and maintenance of the Records Management Program. 
    • This includes the development and implementation of electronic records management and continued development and maintenance of the City Classification System (CCS); Records Retention Schedule, Records Management Manual, lifecycle management of information and ensure compliance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
    • Lead and/or participate in management of various records management projects, e.g. user requirements discovery and analysis, migration of electronic documents from shared network drives, updating and implementing updated CCS and retention by-law; digitization of information, and email management. 
    • Develop training plans and material.
    • Deliver informal and formal training and information sessions to staff related to information management.  E.g. Basic Records management and SharePoint team site training.
    • Provide backup to Manager, Records Management Services as required. 
    • Must be physically capable of lifting up to 35 lbs. 
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

    • Post-secondary education in Records and/or Information Management or equivalent from an approved institution.
    • Three years' experience in the records management field, preferably in a municipal government setting.
    • Strong research, analytical and problem solving skills to investigate, evaluate and recommend information management solutions.
    • Knowledge and familiarity with information management systems (e.g. OmniRIM and SharePoint) and Microsoft Office desktop applications is required.
    • Sound knowledge of records management principles, methods and standards required.
    • Training, facilitation and  presentation skills to all levels of staff.  Strong communication skills.
    • Must be able to work on own and in a team environment. 
    • Demonstrate organizational skills, take initiative, work under time constraints, prioritise duties and meet deadlines. 
    • Experience in project management and change management processes are an asset.

     

     

    Hours of Work: 35 hour per week

     

    Salary: $$60,142 - $80,190
