    Reporting to the Manager, Urban Design, the successful candidate will:

    • Provide background information for Development Applications and Sign Variance applications;
    • Conducts pre & post site inspections to ensure built form complies with approved plans, City By-laws, Ontario Building Code and Industry standards and procedures;
    • Receive and process Inspection Fees adhering to City procedures;
    • Recommends release or reductions of Letters of Credit subject to detailed file review and site inspections;
    • Prepare appropriate tender/contract documents and internal memos for the completion of defaulted site development projects;
    • Administer tender/contact documents to ensure contractors carry out the site works in accordance to the approved plans;
    • Conducts research and provide information for Design Studies and Projects as required,
    • Provide effective communication with residents, developers, Ward Councillors and other City staff;
    • Attend and participate at meetings as required; and
    • Will perform other related duties as assigned.



    • ​Degree or Diploma from a recognized school program in Landscape Architectural Technology required;
    • Minimum one (1) year experience and/or detail knowledge of landscape design, construction, maintenance and arboriculture theories, construction materials and standards;
    • Knowledge of City By-laws, Ontario Building Code, Industry standards and procedures;
    • Ability to read and interpret landscape architectural and engineered drawing plans and specifications;
    • Ability to identify plant materials and trees;
    • A good understanding of Green initiatives;
    • Effective communication (written and verbal) research, drawing and graphic skills; 
    • Proven ability to acquire sound working knowledge of pertinent municipal by-laws and standards; previous training in health and safety procedures and practices;
    • Computer literacy (MS Office Applications) required;
    • Basic accounting principles and procedures required for revenue/cash receipts and processing;
    • Ability to work under limited supervision and achieve goals and targets with independent initiative;
    • Workload management and negotiation skills required; 
    • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather;
    • Must have ability to travel and have/provide own transportation and be comfortable working in multiple locations.


    Hours of Work: 35 hours per week


    Salary: $60,142 - $80,190
